Rainwater and Your Property: From Risk to Resource

  • Wed, April 17, 2013
  • 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Council Chambers, Bridgewater Town Hall, 60 Pleasant St., Bridgewater
In Nova Scotia it seems to rain the most when we need it the least! This public presentation on rainwater and your property will help you answer the questions: Are you making the most of this precious resource?  What should you do to reduce the risk of flooding and water damage on your property?  How can your actions improve your community and your environment?

Jocelyne Rankin, Water Coordinator at the Ecology Action Centre will share options and local examples for home-owners on how to capture the benefits of rainwater on their properties.  These cost-effective approaches can help reduce the risk of flooding and downstream water quality impacts in their community.

Jocelyne and the Coastal and Water team at the EAC have spent the last two years exploring alternative approaches to managing stormwater and working with partners in municipalities, provincial departments and the insurance industry to create Nova Scotia’s first stormwater management demonstration site.  Jocelyne will share information about the tools and techniques that exist to help you turn rainwater into a resource.

This event is free and no RSVP is necessary. For more information, contact Jocelyne at water@ecologyaction.ca, call 902-442-5046, or visit www.stormwatercentral.ca.
