We are offering two weekend chainsaw courses with instructor Patrick Allan.  July 18 -19 Open course and August 15 -16 Women only.

This is a hands-on course teaching bucking, felling, safe use, and maintenance. Participants come away with knowledge and practice to safely and competently use a saw.

Participants bring their own steel-toed boots and we provide the rest of the safety gear. You have the option to bring your own saw, or use those we provide.

We encourage participants to come in Friday evening. This gives everyone a chance to meet and socialize over snacks and a beverage. Participants can settle in and get a good night’s rest. No one is required to be here Friday, but we’ve found it’s a good way to start the weekend.

The chainsaw courses start on Saturday morning learning the saw from the inside out, safe use, sharpening the chain, proper maintenance, how to buck wood, and the dos and don’ts of working both with downed wood and standing wood. On Sunday the participants learn to fell trees, working in a woodlot at the Harrison Lewis Centre.

The course cost is $275, and includes the instructor’s fee, shared cabin accommodation for one (or two) nights, five meals (from Saturday breakfast through Sunday lunch).

Please book now, spaces are limited.
